Great place, the 3 levels are also great and if your a member of the cool kids club that gets to the top there is a great view of the city. I think they kept a lot of the old styles, but did the upgrade really well. I wish I could give 4.5 stars because the bathrooms are all on the bottom level.
Highly recommended for drinking on the weekend.

If Cheesecake Factory, TGI Fridays, and an Irish pub had a drunken orgy, the resulting love-child would be the new Fado. OK. OK. Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh. The night I was there, there was a typical Buckhead crowd:. Lots of metro dudes, and lots of 30+, good-looking, but made up chicks. The great news is, I saw no popped collars, boating shoes, plaid short-shorts, or croakies. I chalk this up to the older crowd, but it was refreshing.
While it's nice too look at, I prefer a bar that has a little character (dirt and grime). But seriously what's up with the decor. It really does remind me of Cheesecake Factory. After taking in the striking resemblance, one can look around and see knick-knacks hanging on the wall like old beer steins, fishing nets, and a canoe (WTF!?!?!). Hence the TGI Friday's member of the orgy.
This place gets crowded quickly, so don't expect to get a seat after 10 or so. If you like Buckhead and you like loud bars with metro-dudes and future Buckhead-Betty's this is your spot.

How often do you find a smoke free bar? This place is great for that reason! The staff is nice and they are good about making sure you never have an empty glass on the table. The rooftop level is a nice option to have except that there is no view. Other than that this place is as generic as every other chain.

Great bar to go if dancing is not your thing. They definitely play a random selection of songs/genres. It can get very crowded and yes, even a line forms to go upstairs. I don't know what it is about an Irish Pub that I just love--it must be a college love that I haven't quite grown out of yet. Service is pretty fast; I haven't ever had a hard time getting a drink. The crowd tends to be a mid-20s "professional" crowd although sometimes you do get a few random groups coming in. This is a staple place for all of my friends.

I loved the old Fado. It was a staple of my mid-twenties nights out in Buckhead, before Buckhead changed and then was caved in on itself.
The new Fado, is well, very similar to the old Fado, just with a more vertical layout. We went with great interest to see what it was like for lunch today after a morning of tuxedo shopping for our wedding.
The good: The beers, the food, and the environment.
The bad: The seemingly myriad flies that swarmed all around us while we ate and drank inside.
We sat downstairs inside, at a table by some stained glass windows. Nice large flatscreen tv's all around the downstairs, and they were tuned to rugby and European football while we were there.
I had a corned beef sandwich and she had the pear and blue cheese salad. They came out fast (it wasn't very busy), and were both delicious and well prepared in a pub food sort of way.
Our server was attentive and nice, and joked with us a bit about my picture taking.
I waked around a little after we finished eating. The rooftop patio, which I didn't know about when we got there, is the place to sit and enjoy your beer on a nice day. I will definitely sit there when we go back.
One last useful note. Valet parking is a ripoff at five dollars. Especially for lunch.
I wish I could give them a 3.5, because that's what they deserve.
Cool place to hang out. Has a fresh feel to it. Be aware on the weekends. It gets packed, there is a line to go upstairs usually. Good place to start off though.
I have not been to many places up in Buckhead in awhile so I was excited to check this place out. It is a new building so it was very nice inside. We had a table on the middle floor which was just a small area between downstairs and patio upstairs.
We wanted to go up to the patio but it was already crowded by the time we got there. I have heard good things though. They had a full bar downstairs which we visited later in the night. It got really crowded by the time we left but still pretty exciting.
I really like that a lot of these places are smoke free now. It really just feels better all around. I wish it was not a government rule and more the business deciding to clean themselves up but I guess the result is the same. I really enjoy not smelling terrible by the time I leave a place.
They offer valet parking, but I do not like the concept of valet parking and especially when they try and force you to valet. I think I can park my own car. Street parking was not bad though for Buckhead.
I cannot wait to go back and hopefully experience the rooftop patio!

Admittedly, I have always been a fan of Fado. It all started with the one that used to be in Portland, Oregon, then Seattle, Denver and Cincinnati, but by far, my favorite was the old Fado in Buckhead. My friends and I have had a lot of good times here. So, imagine my disappointment, when I first pulled up to the new contemporary building of Fado. No longer that charming dark cottage feel with the cobblestone floors weaving through nooks and crannies of secluded seating area's.
Although disappointed initially, I do rather like it. As other reviews mention it is very clean, airy and cleverly incorporates the Irish decor into its contemporary architecture. I think my favorite feature of the new building is the rooftop deck, which was quite popular this past Friday night.
Speaking of Friday night, it was packed with quite an eclectic mix of people. If you love to people watch, I recommend sitting on the second level where a steady flow of people pass to and from the roof top deck, while at the same time overlooking the masses on the main floor.
I have been here a few times for happy hour and it is pretty steady during the week. It is busy, but the patrons and staff are still all very friendly and outgoing. As a matter of fact, I had to laugh when I read Aanal's review, because I had had a conversation with the same character as she described. He must be a regular, as I have seen him each time I have been to this Fado.
Most importantly, Fado still has a generous mix of foreign beers, as well as a full bar. The menu hasn't changed and is your standard pub food. I think my favorites are the Guinness Wings and the BBQ Chicken Sandwich. Friends have raved about the pot pie and it does look delicious, but I have never tried it.
In perspective, it is not the old Fado, but I look forward to making new memories at the new Fado....See you there!

If you love the experience of going to a bar where it will take you more than 5 minutes to get your drink, shouldering your way through drunken throngs of Friday night revelers, and enjoy being in a place so loud that your ears ring afterwards, then Fado is the place for you.
Smithwick's on tap always brings a smile to my face. Last time I was there they poured the Guinness properly too, i.e. they gave it a minute before topping it off. The decor is kinda . . . hell, I don't know. They have cheesy Irish looking stuff. This place resembles nothing you would find in Ireland. That being said, it is pretty cool as far as the layout goes. The patio upstairs is swanky and it's nice that they have a bar up there too.
If I have to go to some bigass bar on Friday it may as well be Fado as at least I'll know that they have some respectable beers on tap. Albeit at highly inflated prices. Isn't it sweet to pay for the privilege of hanging out in a "cool" atmosphere?
I only experienced the old Fado's once, and I must say, I MUCH prefer the new space! I love this place for happy hour until 2 a.m. rolls around, but I am not crazy about the food. The bar scene is different than some of the other Buckhead bars because it has more of a sit down and chat feel, and it is fun to hand on the rooftop patio or downstairs in a booth.
The beer is a little pricey, but worth it for all the choices.

Was able to check out Fado because of cool Yelper's Gretchen, Colleen, Adam, and German Christine. The place is located in what seems to be a constructing area, and parking as well as Valet Parking are both 5.00 so why not valet? The place is Very Buckhead with people dressed to impress, and it just didn't feel like a local cool chill bar, people were just trying too hard, but it was fun to watch all the wanna be party people come out from the OTP.. I had the stongbow cider beer which was pretty sweet and yummy, and it was a pretty big glass. Would I choose to come here regularly.. nah.. I'm more of a Brickstore pub or cypress kind of girl.
I thought the 5 buck parking or valet was a bit ridiculous especially for a Irish Pub.. this is not a nice restaurant, and I am down for Valet, just calm down with the 5.00 charge- just made the experience that less attractive.

I was always a fan of the old Fado... it's authenticity as a true Irish pub was unquestioned.
The new building and location, I must admit, is a fantastic improvement. After three visits on three different days, the place seems to be always busy from early Happy Hour until close. And even though the place is as big as a warehouse, the wooden dividers and sectioned bar still gives you that tiny rustic bar feel - even if you can't hear your friends over the din.
If you like quality European beer, this is your place. The selection is fantastic, and bar service is quick - wait service is a little show, especially when they must squeeze between the same nooks and crannies as everyone else.
The menu hasn't changed from the old location - and I urge readers to step out of your traditional pub food (which is fantastic) and try some of the more Irish dishes like the bangers and mash or the boxty. Also the Guinness ice cream is very much worth trying.
See you there!
I had a few pints (British standards, not American) and the mini-burgers. When I first got the burgers, they were raw on the inside so I sent them back. When they got back, they were cooked much better and the Smithwicks burgers went great with Guinness. 4 stars if they would have got it right the first time.
This isn't quite the Carlos McGees or Good Ol' Days of Buckhead's golden years...but it's still a pretty cool place to hang out.
The menu is nothing spectacular, but I've been here twice recently and enjoyed my meal both times. The pub steak was very well prepared and the servers were very nice. Nice rooftop patio if you don't mind the construction view.
$5 for parking sucks...am I at six flags??

Not the best but fills the void. I got an eerie EPCOT sensation entering this fake Irish pub.
It is a really enormous place. They chopped up the seating areas enough so you don't feel like you're sitting in the middle of a gymnasium. Seating areas are authentic pub furnishings complete with colored glass inserts on room dividers.
There is a small but high quality selection on tap including Leffe. Looking past the countless replica Guinness knickknacks, fancy schmancy restroom fixtures, and non-stop soccer feeds on plasma, I had a nice meal .
Bangers and mash were OK with a pint of the black. A comfortable place to bring the family. Note this is a chain of restaurants located in 14 cities.

The new Fado is a cleaned up version of the old guy you used to love. The new location still holds that old Irish charm but, it's got a clean fresh feeling. There are three levels of fun here. The top floor being the patio with a large bar, plenty of space, and room to move around.
I enjoyed the new Fado. It's definitely a step up from the old Fado.

I gotta say, I liked Fado's from the word go. The bar has a nice, wide-open feel to it, which makes it hard to feel too crowded. I also liked the mix of people around - businessmen still in their casual office attire stopped for a drink to the cute hotties hanging around the bar - all attractive, I must say.
Oh yeah - and there was food and drink as well. Not a big wine list, but a few good choices. I can't really speak to the beer selections as I didn't have any (I know, what was I doing at an Irish Pub, right?) but I have to say the food was a lot nicer than I would expect at a "pub". The quesadillas were different in a deliciously good way (not a tortilla but a thicker shell made of a light potato pancake) and the cheese dip and wedges were gooey goodness. The chicken tenders were very tasty and surprisingly light - done tempura with a side of honey mustard. I also sampled one of the mini cheeseburgers and immediately wished we'd ordered more. They were cute little thick burgers with cheese, french fried onion strings, pickles and a great sauce. I had the blue crunch salad, which was big but I ate every last bite. We had to try the Harvest Bread Pudding with apples, cinnamon and sugar. It was awesome! I loved the cinnamon and sugar with the vanilla ice cream on top - yum!!!
I'll definitely be back for more before long. Thanks for taking care of our crazy group, Fado's!

Sorry to disappoint the fans out there who thought this was an original idea. It's the same as the Fado in Austin and the same as the one in Chicago. It's nothing new, really, except that this Fado is not in the middle of a bustling downtown area. It's in the middle of a construction pit! The Buckhead location is convenient for me, so I'll be here all the time. Needless to say, I still love it. Love love love the 3 levels, the roof (except there is no view) and the decor. Everything is new, even the crowd. It's nice to see new faces out and about. Bartenders are friendly, too. I never went to the old Fado's, but this one does have good parking. Oh, and the best thing? It's smoke-free!

You don't have to be Irish to enjoy this new bar located in Buckhead....Three words...A-maz-ing... Drinks are good, the new decor is great.. complete with a rooftop bar that overlooks the city and outdoor walk around fireplace.. you might think you are in Dublin... 3 stories, very good food, excellent service and its not dark like the old Fado.. The attention to detail in the decor is unbelievable.. If you have A D D have a few drinks before you walk in because the first 20 minutes you will be checking everything out...
Very clean, nice spot to take out grandma (I did see someone's grama having a pint on Saturday), and fun for cocktails with the girls..
See you there soon,

I was a huge fan of Fado for a long time. I spent many a St Patty's day there, countless happy hours and went after the U2 concert and could have sworn that it was actually U2 playing and not a cover band.
The old location torn down, I visited the NEW location last night. I believe they just opened this week after being in a temporary location for the past few months.
The new space is HUGE. No longer do you feel like you have crawled into a cave (~20ft ceilings!) - but the ambiance remains with faux finishes, murals and old Irish signs. In addition to the large bar on the main floor there is a second level with more seating and then a third level with a glass-enclosed bar leading to a nice rooftop patio.
Plenty of Guinness on tap (I like half Guinness, half New Castle), Fado looks to be back and better than ever.

Just checked out the new Fado's location in Buckhead. I must say i was pretty partial to the old one as it really was a great pub even if it did get a little too packed at times. The space is much larger and is quite nice inside. It feels more like a restaurant-pub than the old location. It was quite crowded as i waited in a line for about a half hour before i paid a $10 cover charge. So i feel more like fado's is moving more towards East Andrew's The Pub instead of old world pub. It's a nice bar, don't get me wrong. I just think i prefer the old one better. But that's just a matter of preference.

One of my favorite spots to hang out, have a beer and eat some delicious Irish Pub food!
Something I just happened upon years ago, this has become one of my most favorite spots to eat (at any time of day) and hang with friends. There are usually a lot of cute men walking around with accents - especially if the is soccer on TV.
They recently had to move due to the rennovation of Buckhead, so I haven't yet been to the new location. But thank goodness they are still around as life without Fado is no life at all!
An extensive drink menu from beers to whiskys (both Scotch and Irish) and even some wine selections, gives you the opportunity to partake before and during your meal - or without eating at all.
As for the food, I have some favorites I must recommend. To start, try the boxtys with the cheese dip or the Guinness BBQ wings. Next, you have a wide variety of choices for Irish Pub food - Shepherd's Pie, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Fish & Chips or Bangers & Mash - personally I am hooked on their Shepherd's Pie and their Chicken Pot Pie.
If you can possibly have any room left (very unlikely between the beer and the food), you have to try the Brown Bread Ice Cream or the Black & Tan Brownie with Guinness Ice Cream. Both amazing desserts carrying on the theme of the place and both well worth saving a little space to split one with your friends. Personally, I need to figure out their recipes for the ice creams!

Looking at Fados from outside......I was disappointed and almost heartbroken because I LOVED the old Fados....it was so authentic and well....Irish! I walked into Fados and it was very busy...from the decor to the happy hour crowd. It is nice inside, bigger, more space for bartenders to make drinks, and practical in every other sense; however, I miss my old Fados!!! The cobblestone floors, wood furniture, dark smokey bar feel......I just could not shake off this feeling.
So I did what anyone else in my position would do....I started to drink.....my friend found a cozy spot in the back. (According to this older gentelmen who was on his way to the restroom stopped over at our cozy spot and told us that the place where we were sitting is called "snookh" in Irish. Don't know how accurate this information is since he was just a wee bit intoxicated....nonetheless we appreciated the info). The waiter came up to us almost immediately after we sat to get our drink orders and give us their very Celtic looking menus. I was impressed. I ordered Leffe on draft, which was very fresh. My friends enjoyed Paulana. For appetizer we ordered a sampler platter which had chicken tenders, chicken quesadilla and potato wedges. I would have to say everything on that sampler platter was so good! A friend ordered the potato wedges with a side of curry sauce, and I kid you not it tasted like channa bhatura (Indian dish: spiced beans with Indian bread). Yummo!
After the sampler appetizer and a couple rounds of Leffe I was not too hungry, so I ordered a light sandwich (tomato and mozzeralla on a bagette). I was very skeptical ordering this dish because I was afraid the bagette would be hard and chewy, but I just took a chance and I am so glad I did because the bagette was soft and light.
Overall the service was excellent, beers were fresh and good, and the food was very tasty and fresh! (Don't be mistaken.....i still miss my old Fados.....but this new one is not so bad!)
Cheers!

Hey yelpers, I work at Fado and wanted to let you know the new Fado Irish Pub is now open for business.... check it out:
www.fadoirishpub.com/a...
Yes, we'll be open for Saturday's parade and of course St Patrick's Day- check the website for hours of operation the first week.
The pub is just a block east of the old location, it's located at the corner of Buckhead Ave and North Fulton. For parking, there are 2 big surface lots, one just to the east to use during the day and then the library lot becomes available after 6pm.
No pictures of the new pub yet, they will be up shortly, great feedback this weekend on the new food, drinks and pub (rooftop outdoor patio rocks) from the friends and family events - thank you to everyone who came.
We think fans of Fado are going to love the place, look forward to seeing everyone! If there is any interest in having a Yelp event at the pub please let us know.

The Rumors are wrong, Fado Irish Pub in Buckhead is NOT closing down with everything else. So with that said, pour the Guinness and toast with ye lads to plenty of more weekends of whiskey drinking and beer pouring.
This pub style stands out in Buckhead with it's Irish flare and dark wood and rustic decor. However, the bands are the same old tribute bands that play "Summer of '69". You will only find people dancing late into the evening after a few too many pints of dark, flavor filled beers. Everyone else is found hanging around the bars or crammed into the wooden booths. Cover is typically between $5-$10 on weekends. During the week, this place only attracts professionals on business looking for a bar near their hotel, or die hard "football" fans (this is one of the few bars in Atlanta that show world soccer games).
As far as food goes, I've never tried it, but my friend meets up with his mother on Sundays for a traditional Irish breakfast.

Great place to go to sit down, relax, watch the telly and drink a nice glass of the thick beer known as Guinness draft. Speaking of Guinness, does anyone else ever feel like they ate an entire loaf of bread after drinking one or two glasses of that beer? Unless I don't feel like eating that night, I usually avoid drinking the stuff before dinner.
The inside of the pub is dimly lit with wooden floors and tables. Really a different place to go in an area of Atlanta that is traditionally known to have dance clubs and trendy bars filled with Buckhead regulars.
I wonder if all of the Buckhead regulars are all going to migrate to this place now that most of their coveted nightlife hot spots have demolished. Nah, it does not really seem like their scene. The environment at Fado's is way to laid back and tame for creatures of their nature. If there is not an individual giving belly shots and dancing on top of the bar, then the scene would probably be considered way too lame for their taste. They will probably just all become regulars at Club Europe or something.
Andy H. hit the nail on the head regarding the precision and excellence that the bartenders achieve every time they pour customers a glass of Guinness. Believe me, you have to be an expert to pour that beer with a minimal amount of foam on the top. I did it for a year and was never able to perfectly execute this art.

I can't believe I've forgotten to review Fado, it's one of my favorite places in all of Atlanta! So thanks to Justin for doing his and reminding me.
Fado is a quaint Irish pub located in the heart of touristy Buckhead - across from so so places like ESPN Zone, Cheesecake Factory and other restaurants like Nava and Chops. It's the best place to be during a soccer/football match, and definitely a place to meet a rowdy British or Irish guy during the tournaments - yum.
Bartenders here serve up Guinness like it's gold. Always a perfect pour. I come here for the whiskey - Guinness makes me feel too full. And whiskey do they have - it flows freely.
I am so glad Fado is being spared the wrecking ball - it's really the only good place to go in that area of town.

This gets five stars because I was dragged by Welsh band Super Furry Animals here after a show at the Roxy. And they forced me to have fun.
Just like many pseudo-UK bars around town, this Irish bar has just enough charm to make you feel like you've left the country for a minute. Then you meet the patrons. Whenever I was dragged out by Buckhead-loving friends I begged to go to Fado so I could at least have a drink or two in semi-peace.
But when SFA was told Fado was down the street, they opted to go, and I had no choice but to follow my lads there. We had a nice night out, talking about random stuff and pretty much being left alone by the patrons as it was a week night and no one was feeling super crazy. I had a long convo with Cian about our shared veg-ism, and kept the ladies off of Gruff (seems to be my job whilst he is in town.)
But I would go there again, with SFA or without, but you better be good company to see me in that part of town again! Yeah, I'll be at the Local before I venture further out .
Fado's is absolutely the best Irish pub in Atlanta. My brother-in-law is an Irish guy and he and his friends practically lived here before he moved North. But sadly, I heard this place is going to be torn down... Not sure if that's true, but it's the word on the street.
So! if its not demolished and you're near the area, you should definitely grab a Guinness here.
Forwarning- this place can get packed, so go early!

The only bar in Buckhead that doesn't make me feel like at a college party gone horribly wrong. Even though Fado gets essentially the same crowd as the other spots in Buckhead, something about it feels a little more civilized and a little less annoying. Maybe it's the old Irish decor or the large amounts of Guinness flowing from the taps, I don't know.
Fado is another pub in a small handful that are good spots in Atlanta to watch international football matches. They do a great job taking care of early risers wanting to watch games from the UK, and they do a superb job every four years during the World Cup. It's a good atmosphere to watch a match.

I have been frequenting Fado since '97. The menu is the only thing that has changed since then. It has broadened to suit more varied palates.
I love Fado for its small niche-like atmosphere. Even though the pub is quite large, you never feel overcrowded or jostled as you might in some other areas. The decor is atypical of more genuine Irish pubs, however it is far from kitschy and makes its ambiance all the more endearing. Dark hard woods, tiled floors, pub stools galore, fireplace niche, ingeniously decorated back area.
Go on Monday night at 9pm. There are musicians there who play trad Irish music unplugged. DO NOT leave without having enjoyed an amazing plate of Boxty Wedges with Mary Rose sauce. The combination of music, unique food and very friendly patrons and staff have made Fado my absolute favorite for 10 years.

Great little place for gatherings and specialty beer... It's really a cozy place with a fire place in the middle of the place and you definately have a feel of the irish pub..Just beware around St. Patty's day... this place used to get really packed..
Fun, fun, fun. This dim, spacious bar is filled with adorably tacky Irish decorations and an abundance of men. A decent amount of them actually are Irish, such as a few I met who were in Atlanta on business. This certainly makes the crowd more interesting. The drinks are surprisingly cheap for Buckhead - two mixed for $11. This is great for a chill night with friends, as there are plenty of booths to squeeze into. Every city in the world needs a decent Irish pub. Fado's serves Atlanta well.

this place is a great irish pub to go to when you want to sit and drink with friends because its huge and you can usually find a seat. the patio out back is small, but the inside is cozy and relaxing. this isn't what you'd think of when you think of a buckhead bar, its not super expensive and it kinda has a neighborhood feel, as though its not so much for the tourist type looking for a night out in buckhead.
sometimes the bands are good, but they're always so loud you cant hear yourself think, so if youre looking for conversation avoid the band nights.

Fado created quite a stir when it first opened in Atlanta back in 1996. They have been pouring the Guiness and good times ever since. Perhaps Fado has strayed a little bit from their original concept by adding live music (non-Irish) on most nights. This increases the revelry but takes away from the true pub atmosphere and makes it more of a club. The space itself is divided into different them areas, with lots of nooks and crannies. This also makes for a cramped amount of customer space, and often it is hard to find a place to stand. The predominantly male crowd here may be appealing to randy single gals, but annoying to other female customers just wanting a pint and some conversation. In other words, ladies beware the vulchers will be a circling.
The best guinness pour ever! Don't pass up the quesdillas!
