This restaurant has all the charm of an upscale chain, and I mean that sincerely. Look closely, and you'll see the telltale signs: inauthentic sauces, copycat (think Atlanta Fish Market) menu, heavy hands in the kitchen.

Still, if you're dining in Dunwoody, it's about as good as it gets, and we'll return based on geography. (And for all you Dunwoody-ites who think I'm a hopeless ITP-er, I owned a home in Dunwoody before it even knew how to spell "restaurant"!)

Yeah...so...ummmm....it....yeah...hmmmm...I've had better.  I was really shocked.  My friends really talked this place up.  I was seriously disappointed.

The place was pretty good across the board, and I had the best sushi I've had in Atlanta (LIMITED exposure, mind you) here. The service is pretty smooth and efficient. I never felt rushed or waited too long. The menu had plenty to choose from and the wine selection was pretty good.

The environment is very unique and made it pretty entertaining.

The only complaint I have of the place is that it was very hard to hear for some reason. I had to ask the waiter to repeat herself a few times even and gave up trying to hear my friend across the table.

We had a dinner reservation at Goldfish (made the online reservation via OpenTable.com) fairly early on a Tuesday night, and were planning to talk a little "shop" before, during or after the meal (wasn't sure which it would be - or all three! - before we got there). A colleague and I were meeting up with one of our business partners for dinner to discuss next steps and potential other opportunities.

Yes, we were there a little early (5:30, since we had to catch a 9pm flight that night), so it made conversation a little easier. By the time we left, the place was bustling, so it would have been harder to have a serious conversation at that time of the night, especially with the couple next to our table sitting a mere 2 feet away.

Being there early had its advantages - the maitre d' was quite friendly and accommodating, the waiter was extremely polite and helpful with recommendations and suggestions and our food arrived in a timely manner.

I ordered the steamed salmon, Hong Kong style (over sauteed spinach with a ginger/soy sauce-based sauce to complement. I ordered the fish steamed, based on the waiter's recommendation - it was quite tasty!

Next time I'm in HOT-lanta, I will keep Goldfish in mind!

A student of mine told me that this was one of the best places in the city for sushi.  I was a little skeptical, but I must say that once I decided to try  this place I was pleasantly surprised. The first time I went I tried the California roll to go because I figured "who could mess up a California roll...?"  It was soo fresh and good!! I kept going back trying other rolls and haven't been disappointed.......not yet anyway.

A month ago I wouldn't have rated this place 5 stars.  Honestly, it would have been a struggle to give it 2 stars.  I had an extremely unpleasant lunch experience there that encompassed all the biggies - bad service, tasteless food, and a server who told me that not even she would eat chicken made there.  I was so appalled that I sent a lengthy and rather long-winded email to Phil, their General Manager.  He responded the next day with a detailed and thoughtful message that concluded with an invitation for a return visit.

I took him up on the offer (albeit a month later) and had the best lunch ever today with my friend Donna.  The weather was beautiful and we were able to dine outside on the patio.  Our food was served quickly and we were able to finish a large shrimp cocktail appetizer plus both of our entrees in about an hour (which was a 30 minute improvement from my last lunchtime visit).

Donna had the shrimp and grits and I had the special, which was lemon pepper mahi-mahi served over potato wedges and mixed vegetables.  Both were absolutely delicious and our table service was exceptional.

I sincerely appreciated Phil's attention to my concerns and I am glad that I decided to give them a second chance.  Definitely one of Atlanta's top restaurants both based on their menu and caliber of service.

Since my mom was in town, we took a break from shopping to check out the cuisine. There was a small crowd on the patio so we decided to join them since the weather was nice.

My order: bbq salmon with cheese grits
Her order: salad with grapefruit vinigrette & seasoned pecans
Both orders were pretty good although the vinigrette could have used some more kick.

We ordered some martinis that were the worst I've ever tasted. Unfortunately, the entire peaceful experience was abruptly interrupted when a woman with a baby in a stroller began to smoke. Our waiter advised that one side of the patio is smoking and the one we were in was non-smoking. Due to the close proximity the smoke was streaming straight over to our side. I know smokers have rights too but why do you even need to smoke while eating?

I'll give them another shot though because the food was tasty.

The service and food quality has slipped recently - acted like it was a favor to get us a table, order came up wrong, never fixed it, and waiter forgot our drinks, twice.  Time to close it down and reopen as a sports bar with Saltwater tanks and a piano bar for piano artists such as the  Jay Stone Dancers.  They need a lesson from Garrisons and know when its time.  McKendrick's is a better choice for this price range.

I agree with other reviewers-the food has slipped quite a bit in the past 6 mos. Typically if I find myself there for a lunch meeting I order sushi and a salad-because at least that is consistent.

Their entrees just perplex me to be honest? It's almost as if the things on the menu do not go together or make sense.

I am a seafood girl but I'm not big into eating cooked salmon or any other "fishy fish" cooked (I do love sashimi and nigiri Tuna, Salmon, etc.)

I guess their entrees just don't appeal to me.

I would like to see more inventive flavorful things on their menu this spring. Let's revisit some more shellfish entrees and make the catfish not have so much breading on it that tastes horrible (ick).

Convenient location; Very nice Decor; Outdoor seating.

However, nothing to write home about for sushi.  I only say that because there was way too much sushi rice on the rolls - a good sushi roll will have a very thin layer of sushi rice so that you can taste more of the fish.  If they wanted to improve their business, they should hire a true blue Japanese trained sushi chef (they know how to roll sushi!)

Service was pretty good and they have outside seating.

A good but not great place to eat.  Better alternative would be Circle Sushi in Roswell.

Originally when I saw the name on the outside of the building I thought that this establishment might be one that specialized in the sale of pet fish.

When I walked inside, not only were my prejudgments eliminated, but I was blown away by the comfortable yet classy vibe and the stunning visual elements the restaurant presented.

The first thing you see when you walk in the restaurant is an enormous 600 gallon fish tank behind the host stand with beautiful aquatic life swimming around inside.

Another element of the restaurant which enhanced the romantic appeal of the restaurant was the groovy-jazzy musical marriage of the piano and saxophone being played in the bar area.

We did not have to wait even 2 minutes for a table because the restaurant's website offers its customers the option of making on-line reservations for a specific time.  Words cannot express the weight lifted off your shoulders from this convenience which eliminates awkwardly standing around looking complete strangers in the face for several hours.

I started my meal out choosing three small plate appetizers consisting of: crispy calamari with marinara sauce and garlic aioli; mini crab cakes with tomato vodka sauce; and my personal favorite, fried oysters with yuzu migonette.  All of the small plates were delicious without being too filling, saving room for the main entree.

My main entree was the five spiced scarlet snapper which came with cooked broccoli, ginger dipping sauce, and cabbage slaw.  Very delicious.

Overall, my visit with Goldfish restaurant was an experience which will not be easy to forget.  The servers were very friendly and gave excellent service.  The whole experience with the restaurant gave me that warm fuzzy feeling inside; which was similar to the one I had as a little kid when my parents bought me my first goldfish.

This place is definitely overpriced.  It's not even that expensive and I wouldn't have minded paying this price for good food but the food was...blah.  Nothing special.  The best thing I had were the fries.  The waiters were not all that friendly either.  They had a "i'm too good for this job" experssion on their faces.

Nothing fishy about Goldfish

This was one of the first trendy, upscale restaurants to come to Dunwoody. It is adjacent to Perimeter mall, so if parking is a problem, just valet - it's already going to be an expensive evening if you're dining here.

They have a huge fish tank in the front foyer which they keep clean and clear for viewing the rich corals and colorful little fish.

You first choose a fish and the cooking method, and then you add the preparation style say with Asian vegetable and wantons to make a salad, or with BBQ sauce and cheesy grits for a southern take. You basically get to make your own entre or ask your server what he or she likes the best. For all those non-fish eaters, they offer steaks. Ask your server if your entre comes with a side or not, you might be getting just a fillet on a plate with nothing else. You can also order sushi.

My advice would be, order one of the appetizers (I like the calamari), and split an entre for a charge of $2 to save room for the key lime pie.

I like fish....fried fish, baked fish, broiled fish, fish sandwiches, fish fingers,  pan-seared fish, fish with crab meat, fish with hollandaise sauce, fish on top of other fish, fish in soup, fish salad, oh and sushi!

Ha...seriously I never knew fish could be prepared in so many ways here at Goldfish!  This was my first time and I have always wanted to check it out!  David and I had the pleasure to hang out with three of David's beautiful ex-coworkers...Kim, Deb and Rhonda.  It's super cute that they all keep in touch and have monthly get together's and I sometimes wish that my old coworkers would do something similar!  Goldfish is the usual choice with this group and I finally know why they always go here!  The food was very tasty and there were so many types of fish and ways to prepare it on the menu!  They also have a very extensive sushi menu and the dessert selection was excellent!  I highly recommend Kim's favorite...snapper prepared the "Tom Tom" way as well as the key lime pie, sangria, grouper sandwich, and all the small plates!  I would seriously go for the 3 small plates for $15.00 the next time I go!

One more thing, it looks like they are sponsoring a Run/Walk for Hunger on March 2nd!  Definitely something to look into!!!

Nice spot, good food and choices.  I liked the fact that they let me go ahead with my own creations: Blackened Mahi Mahi with a good spinach salad (Mango, Avocado and the workz).  I thought their Creme Brule was great too - served with fresh berries.  For wine, I had the Pinot Noir, which complemented the food well.  The atmosphere for a Monday night was not bad, it seemed most locals.  Beware of usual chain restaurants nearby!

Part of the Here To serve family, Goldfish is a reliable spot for quality seafood.  The hustle bustle of the bar crowd (and live music) someties interferes with the dining room.  All in all a nice oasis among the chain players in and around the Perimeter Mall area.  Also a total pick-up scene for the over 30 Dunwoody set.

This is one of the nicest restaurants I've been to in Atlanta. If you find one better I'm sure it's a great establishment. The food was good. The wait staff was as much as I could ask for and the price was fair considering what you were getting. On the way out a waiter (not ours) smiled genuinely and wished us a good night. That left a good lasting impression because there was no tip involved for him.

The ambiance was great. There was a piano player at the door. All of the tables were full so we opted to eat at the sushi bar. At first I thought this would take away from the experience but I was soon reassured.

I haven't been to all of the restaurants in or around Perimeter Mall so I don't know how they compare but all I can tell you is that I was thoroughly satisfied with this one.

After having my Macbook partially mixed in the connecting mall and starving for some good food, I went to this seafood place after seeing that my only oter option was maggiano's and I didn't feel like eating a huge amount of so-so italian food, as I had had some pretzel sticks from auntie anne's, which were good when you don't have them for two years.  But they really shouldn't be eaten more than three times a year with the amount of butter on them.  Anyway, back to the restaurant.  They sitted me quickly and it looked like a really upscale bar or something, which was really good.  I think you have to request bread, but I didn't need any after those pretzels.  I had a house salad and a shrimp cocktail to start, which were both good.  I've had better shrimp cocktails but this was one tasty and unique in that they served both the red sauce and a remoulade sauce that was pretty good.  The grilled salmon I had was very tasty and packed full of flavor.  For dessert, the peanut butter and chocolate cake was great and was a nice end to a healthy and much-needed meal.  The only drawback was that it took a lot of time for the food to be served, as I was there for over two hours.  Other than that, great experience and definitely better than the maggiano's, unless you're in the mood for stuffing your face full of bland italian food.  And they're open pretty late for any stragglers out of the mall, like me.
