I used to love Mckendricks when I worked in dunwoody. the menu as since changed. it's still okay. I only go for lunch because the dinner prices are high. Get the swordfish. it's great.

Doug and Claudia McKendrick have gone to great lengths to bring a great American Style Steakhouse to the Perimeter.   It is crafted in the great tradition of Northern steakhouses - plenty of food, loud conversation, wood and leather decor, and spare no expense environment.  I always enjoy Lobster and/or the Veal chop.  If you are counting calories, this is not the place to go; as garlic Butter drips from the steaks and seafood, and I love it!  I miss being able to enjoy a cigar at the table after dinner but  CEO of Dekalb county Vernon Jones and his Smoking Prohibited ordinances have killed that pleasure for me all together.   Make sure you bring plenty of Money and or a Credit Card, Friday and Saturday evening dress appropriately or you will get looks.

Top Notch.  Fantastic.

I just enjoyed one of the best steak dinners I've eaten in a long while.  I've dined at McKendrick's several times when visiting the Perimeter area for business and this evening's trip did not deviate from the experience I've come to expect.

As I'm only ever in Atlanta for business, I often times dine alone.  McKendricks is always accomodating, especially early in the evening.  At 5:30 this afternoon, I was suddenly overwhelmed with the urge to eat a steak, so I called McKendricks and was able to secure a reservation for 6:30pm for one.  Sunday evenings are always easy to do this on.

The ambiance is great in this restaurant and makes it easy to dine alone.  I requested a booth (as it was not busy) and had it all to myself to watch other people, rather than be the lone diner on display at one of the tables in the middle.

Tonight I made it out at exactly $100 (with tip).  I could have done it a little cheaper, I suppose, but I splurged on dessert.  Bring your expense account with you to dinner :)

Tonight, I dined on:

Large Bottle of Panna Acqua Water
Lobster Bisque Soup
8 oz Filet Mignon Oscar
"small"  side of Steamed Broccoli
"small" side of  Baked Vidalia Onion
Best glass of by the glass Shiraz ($15)
Creme Brulee
Double Shot Espresso

All for ~$85 - not bad at all.

The Baked Vidalia Onion was very good - it was topped with melted (I think Stilton) Blue Cheese.  My steak was very good.  the broccoli was boring and bland, needed a bunch of salt and pepper - but it's broccoli - what do you want...

I only ate a few spoonfuls of the Lobster Bisque.  It was way too heavy and thick - and it came served with a tablespoon of butter melting in the middle of it.  I want to splurge, but I don't want a heart attack with it.

All in all, a fantastic restaurant and great experience tonight.

A+

As if I needed any excuse to give a steakhouse a chance. I'll give any steakhouse a chance. Why not - with so many ways to prepare steak and make it great - some of the best have been the most simple - because at some point, you realize that a majority of the task is in the technique and it becomes an art form for those who elevate their skills.

McKendricks is nice in an old New York steakhouse fashion. Don't come wearing your torn jeans and emo/hipster/whatever clothes - unless you're dining with your parents or grandparents who will dress appropriately for this steakhouse.

With meats cooked closer to the rare side, the beef is good. While the sides of meat is generally better quality than you'll find at many other places, I did find the taste to be a bit plain. Sure the all out beef flavor was there but it felt like something was missing. Some slight seasoning of any sort of would've been nice - although I sometimes I do appreciate a plain piece of meat cooked without anything else other than... itself.

The service is generally top notch and they'll cater to you in any way you would like - if you receive less than stellar service it's because your individual waiter sucks, not really the restaurant itself - at least that's the case we experienced during our visit to this spot across from Perimeter Mall and hidden in the back of a shopping center.

It's good here, but there are many other places I'd choose before I ever made it back to McKendricks.

I frequent McKendrick's for lunch with clients. It's never disappointed. The steaks are exceptional and the side dishes are large enough to share with your table mates-or not because they are SO yummy. I've tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed.

My favorite for lunch is the Filet Kabob. It's a good amount of meat without being overwhelming and comes with a side. I love their creamed spinach :-)

Never been for dinner-but I'm sure it's just as amazing. Reservations are a must if you head in anytime after 12noon during the week or on a weekend evening.

I sat at the bar - a lone businessman eating a lonely dinner.  I started with a Sapphire martini...actually, that's what I ordered but the excellent bartender asked me if I always ordered Sapphire.  I could tell he wanted me to consider an alternative.  He brought me a sample of Sapphire along with a sample of Plymouth gin.  Let me tell you, the Plymouth won hands down.

For dinner, I ordered a caesar salad (excellent dressing) and an 8oz Filet Mignon (rare, perfectly cooked).  The outside was crisp and a bit too salty but the inside was tender and juicy.

All in all, a great meal.  When I got the bill I was glad that I was on an expense account!

It must be me.  I went there for my birthday last year.  The food/service was very good but not great (for this type of restaurant).  I personally liked Joey D's better.  I would not sternly warn you away from this restaurant, but I am just luke warm about it.

This place has a lot of positive reviews, so perhaps my experience was not the norm.

This place clicked on all cylinders like a well oiled engine. The whole meal was very memorable from the time we arrived to the thank yous and goodbyes at the end. Being a birthday splurge nobody held back in ordering from top to bottom.

Appetizers:

French Onion Soup - good deep rich stock, caramelized onions, crouton and hearty Gruyere cheese.

Tuna Tartar - great combination of fresh tuna, wasabi, tobiko on a bed of crunchy sweet seaweed.

Steak wise, the 24oz. bone in rib-eye was a true meat lovers delight. Nice and crusty on the outside served with a perfect medium-rare juicy middle. Coupled with amazing flavor and that just aged right goodness, it was fantastic!

Sides: we all ordered sides to share and there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. Between the au gratin potatoes, creamed spinach, creamed corn, roasted seasonal vegetables and mushroom risotto, the platters were "licked" clean.

Paired with some excellent wines we brought from our good friends' cellar the night was truly an ode to what a steakhouse meal should be.

Great steak.  I had the 24oz. bone-in ribeye.  I had it done well.  The waiter said their well done was more on the medium rare side.  He was right.

I ate the whole thing.  I also had the beefsteak tomato salad.  It had great blue cheese on top.  I got irked, though.  I was going to eat the rest of my salad with my meal and the waiter took it without me realizing it.   (Happens to me a lot)

I also think the mashed potatoes were a little underdone.

Service was good, too.

Price was about $62-65 per person.

How can there be only one review for this superb steakhouse? I wasn't expecting great steak in Georgia but was pleasantly surprised by the meal at McKendricks. The crab corn chowder was to die for and my rib eye was one of the best I've had in ages. The wine list was amazing too.

This is a great steakhouse to go to without feeling like you have to be formal or even very dressy. My steak was juicy and done just as I had ordered (medium rare). We ordered brussels sprouts based on recommendation from our waiter as one of our side dishes and found it to be surprisingly very very tasty. Service was excellent.

By and far the best food and service that I have ever had in Atlanta. This place beats Bones and Chops by a ton. The service was professional and knew everything about the menu and what would compliment each dinner. You will not find a better Steakhouse in Atlanta. I suggest the Bone In Ribeye it was to die for! The cheesecake will make you want to cry it is so good
